Eclipse Process Framework (EPF) Composer is a free, open-source tool from Eclipse for defining, maintaining, and publishing software and systems delivery processes. Built on the Eclipse Rich Client Platform, it implements the SPEM 2.0/Unified Method Architecture meta-model to describe roles, tasks, work products, guidance, capability patterns, and delivery processes. Teams can tailor and extend methods using method plug-ins and variability, assemble configurations for specific audiences or project types, and publish the results as a navigable, static website for easy sharing across the organization. EPF Composer includes the OpenUP method out of the box and can be used to document and customize agile, iterative, or organization-specific practices.

Key features:

  • Visual authoring environment for roles, tasks, work products, guidance, and processes
  • Method libraries, plug-ins, and variability for reuse and tailoring
  • Configurations to assemble targeted views of methods and guidance
  • Publishing to static HTML websites for broad distribution
  • Version-control-friendly file structure for team collaboration
  • Extensible, open-source platform under the Eclipse Public License (EPL)
